A new banner for spring

banner_spring2011
Wanted to update my blog to reflect the season, and the fact that blooming trees are everywhere in Austin right now. I love the clouds of pink-ish purple that engulf the redbuds before they leaf out.

Definitely lost a lot of the detail in shrinking it down, but hopefully it still reads okay. Usually I work a lot closer to true size for something like this. Rascally squirrel!

Picked the first freesia yesterday from bulbs I planted last fall, and it smells amazing! Ooh, I love me some spring!

Yes it's amazing out! The Redbuds are rocking, and have you seen the delicious trees with the purple flowers? They smell like Grape Soda!

I love your squirrel.

I actually have two of the grape soda trees (mountain laurels) blooming in my yard! Love them. And thanks! Squirrels are fun to draw.

Utterly gorgeous! I just want to sit underneath that tree! Photos great as well!

Thanks! And the problem with spring is that all I want to do is sit beneath blooming trees, too.

Just the shot in the arm I needed. This is brilliant and fresh. Just like spring. I love how you even photographed a spring bud. How delicious! You would make B. Potter so proud. I love everything Amy. You are brilliant. I want you to know how you have inspired me. I purchased a set of the Schmincke watercolors. I used them over the weekend and I have to say, I think I like them better then my Windsor Newtons. I mean you get what you pay for. These are richer and more vibrant and I really like the finish. Thanks for the inspiration.

Vanessa, you always make my day with your comments!! And if I inspired you, that's huge because I know how many people you inspire with your art and your words and your generous spirit. I'm so glad you like the new Schmincke paints. Wish I were closer so we could take them out en plein air and paint some spring together...

love the new banner. as always, i'm inspired - love your simple, airy work and elegant brushwork. the sweetest blossom gazer too. hope you get back to painting soon! and yes, blossom gazing. how can folks pass under flowering cherries and not stop to look up and be dazzled? count the bees?

Glad you guys like the banner. And I don't know, Tanja; I'm definitely a bee counter, too!
